The Challenge

A healthcare grants team responsible for procuring customised supply orders for elderly patients needed a tool that could identify the most economical vendor for each order from a database of multiple suppliers. The database was large, inconsistently structured, and contained products with non-synchronised units of measurement and different minimum order quantities — making manual comparison unreliable and time-consuming.

The tool needed to be usable by nurses in the field on handheld devices as well as desktop computers, without specialist training. It also needed to accommodate regular changes to vendor pricing through an automated monthly update process.

 

The Solution
